Katie Melua is aiming for world record status · Sep 20, 05:43 AM by Katie Fan

Far from being your conventional artist Katie Melua has signed on to hold a concert on the bottom of the North Sea this coming October 2nd 2006.

The concert is being paid for by the owners of the Statoil Troll A Platform, one amazing fact is the Troll platform is 472 metre’s high and is recorded as the tallest structure ever moved by human’s, a full 369 metre’s of its height however is underwater.

Geir Amland, Director of Production, was thrilled, “Statoil celebrates our 10 year anniversary in 2006 and we are thrilled that Katie Melua will be performing a concert to celebrate our anniversary. It will be certainly an occasion to remember.”

Not only will the platforms staff be in the audience but Craig Glenday from Guiness World Records will be onhand to verify that all requirements for this being a world record actually happen.

Some of the requirements are:

  1. Katie must perform all basic concert actions such as “vocals” and play an instrument.
  2. There must be an audience.

However this concert and the above requirments were already in place before the staff at Guinness even expressed an interest in the event, so their shouldn’t be any issue’s there.

All people coming to the platform for the show, including Melua and her crew, will go through numerous medical tests and emergency training before they can even take a helicopter to the platform itself.

The concert is being organized by Dinamo Story, a Norwegian production company, and will be televised on local tv channels.
